Try this fun twist on beer brats...kombucha brats!
We had the best time at the Kingston Farmers Market a few weeks ago - it was the kick off to the Plympton Poultry CSA and we loved seeing our members come pick up their first bag of fresh chicken. We also had an outpouring of returning customers and met many new people interested in what we are doing. Everyone asked great questions, shared recipe ideas and gave great feedback about our products. It was a perfect day!
Along with having a great day at our tent, for the first time ever we arrived on time and were set up a few minutes early. This seriously NEVER happens! We took advantage of it and took a spin around to check out what our fellow vendors had to offer. Based on what we saw, we decided to challenge ourselves to create a unique ultra-local dish that features only ingredients you can find at the Kingston Farmers Market! We hope you enjoy our twist on beer brats :)
2 bottles IndieFerm Turmeric Mango Kombucha
2 packages Revival Farm pork bratwurst
1 large Tilth and Timber onion, sliced
8 Honey I’m Home cheddar biscuits
1 jar Jammed With Love Nana’s Hot Mustard
Preheat grill to medium.
On the stove in a large pot over medium-high heat, add brats, onion and kombucha.
Bring kombucha to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer until brats are cooked through, about 10 to 12 minutes. Remove brats to plate. Continue cooking onions in kombucha while grilling the brats.
Cook brats on grill and turn frequently, until browned, about 5 minutes.
Strain the onions out of the kombucha into a bowl.
Split the cheddar biscuits in half, slather both sides with hot mustard, add a brat and top with a pile of onions.
